Bijoux, My Heart

February 2, 2017 Guest User

We at MDG love our accessories. The lids of jewelry boxes creak open and strands of pearls are lifted from velvet-lined compartments. Aquamarine and garnet cocktail rings clink in dishes on vanities, and bracelets of amethyst glint in the light as they are pronounced the finishing touch to an outfit for girl's night out. We get an excited shiver when we know our jewel selection is flawless, so why not slip into the same mindset when accessorizing our homes?

Like our birthstones or gems in our favorite colors, these tones add an extra level of glamour, of beauty, of sparkle. They can warm, lighten or brighten a space, and work beautifully in jewel-toned layers or grounded by black, white, or natural wood. Below are some of our favorite pieces to elevate our next date night ensembles as well as every room in our homes.

Shaken or Stirred?

January 26, 2017 Guest User

Is there a cooler piece of furniture in a home than a bar cart? Since the end of Prohibition, we've seen carts evolve from serving tea to booze and then become a focal point at 1950's daily cocktail hours. Every pitch in "Mad Men" begins and ends with a visit to the office essential bar cart and is punctuated with ice clinking against glass. It's an easily accessible mixing station while watching the Pro Bowl or a stopping off point for a night cap after work.

A well-stocked and organized bar cart can be both aesthetically pleasing and practical, no matter if square footage is precious or in no short supply. A few favorite spirits, an assortment of glasses, a jigger and a strainer are great starting accouterments and then personalities shine in the details. Whether you're swiping a lemon peel around the rim of a tumbler for an old fashioned or spearing an olive on a metal cocktail pick for a martini as crisp as James Bond's suits, there's a bar cart that will fit with your taste perfectly.
